Update: Thanks everyone for your wonderful comments. i just want to make one correction. For incline treadmill as I described below, the calorie count is 300 for a 35 minute workout at 7.5. Sorry. For a 22 minte workout, it’s 200 calories. I suggest starting at 10 minutes, then going to 15, and then 22 minutes. I discovered that 30 minutes is hard on the body and a 22 minute workout is plenty at that incine. It really has an impact quickly.
Well, there’s good news and bad news. Since it’s important to stay positive, I’ll focus on the good news first.
I exercised for the second day in a row and am starting to feel energetic again. I can already feel my muscles firming again. My secret weapon for exercise is the treadmill in my garage. I discovered that if I walk at a high incline (7.5), I don’t have to go that long or that fast to get very fast results. I used to do real hiking, when my oldest was a newborn and I got so fit I tried to replicate it on the treadmill. The problem is if you do it every day for too long it does wear on the body.. I used to do it every other day for 22 minutes at 3 mph. This burned off 300 calories, which was a lot of WW points and also firmed me up in all the right places. Today I only did 15 minutes, but it was a hard workout. I will work my way back up to 22 minutes and also throw in two yoga classes a week.
Bad news is I didn’t keep track of what I ate, though I didn’t splurge. I know from experience though, once I start counting and keeping within points it comes off really quickly.
So my goals for tomorrow:
1. Exercise again.
2. Log all food and stay in points.
If I do that I will have accomplished a lot, because sometimes all it takes is one or two good days to get you back on track.
Thanks everyone for all your support. This is great.

Don’t look at it as bad news, look at it as an opportunity to improve tomorrow. I hang out on the flylady.net site, and her favourite saying is “You are not behind. Jump in where you are!” I think those are good words to live by when it comes to our weight loss journey… we can’t do anything about the last meal we ate, but we can change what we’re eating (or not eating
) right now.

That is awesome, Raehan! Celebrate the positives and learn from the things that challenged you. You are doing a good job!

It’s a great idea to walk at the incline… I bet it does a number on your fanny! I’d like to try that…

Hey, working out is terrific. You can start keeping track of your food tomorrow. I was just the opposite today–I know exactly wat I ate, but I never worked out.

I’m impressed by the incline. Me and thumper, know what we ate, no excercise.
I don’t know how to start.
There is no bad news. You exercised and watched what you ate. Tomorrow you write. One day at a time to do stuff.

Hey that idea about exercising at an incline sounds great. I am going to try that tomorrow. Don’t worry that you didn’t write your food down yesterday you will do it today. Remember baby steps!

Raehan, you really jump-started well. Keep up the great exercise.
