Thats how I plan to do this. For starters, thank you Leanne! I’m not sure how this computer support will all go for me, but I’m going to give it my best effort. I’m not a blogger. Don’t have one and I only read one and that is because it is my very good friend’s and I try to keep up on her life that way when we don’t get to talk. It only took me 3 times to successfully log in and I had to flip back and read my directions only twice. Sad, I know.
I’m here because I now weigh what I did when I delivered my daughter 10 years ago, 42 weeks pregnant, bloated, swollen and feeling very whale-like. I expect that during pregancy; however I’m not pregnant. I’m here because I feel heavy and thick. I used to feel as if I could carry the weight of the world on my shoulders and still tread lightly. Not the case any more. That and the pants that I bought because my old ones hurt are now starting to hurt! The curious thing is I’m not sure where it all came from. I’m a pre-school teacher, which is a pretty physical job. 3 and 4 year olds don’t sit still. I also push the merry go round for two recesses a day. The other teachers hate it so I do it. I take my kids hiking, biking, swimming, to the zoo (we were there yesterday), to the park, ice skating, and golfing regularly. I admit to being an on again off again treadmiller as well. I eat a balanced diet and cook good meals. I also snack in between.
So what happened? Is it the after school snack I have with the kids? The second pregnancy almost six years ago (I haven’t been the same since)? Or just middle age and my metabolism slowing? Maybe I don’t really need to know where it came from or how it landed on my body. I am one of the very blessed people that gain weight proportionally, but I’ve still gained it all the same and I feel gross when I look in the mirror naked.
I have made a commitment to lose 22 pounds. I started only 2 days ago and have treadmilled two miles both days in addition to walking the zoo for 4 hours yesterday. I’ve eaten well the past two days, but I admit I’m eyeing the donuts on the counter! I’m worried about what happens next Monday when I go back to work after break. That means I have to get up at 5:15 instead of 6:00 to maintain my treadmilling. I hate 5:15! It also means birthday parties, cupcakes and 2 snacks a day for the kiddos. Granted the snacks consist of carrots and pretzels, but still. I’ve done well so far (those are key words there) and my husband has helped because he is trying to lose 75 lbs. I know I can do this. I just need to maintain my routine after I go back to work. I did well walking over the summer and then school started again. The morning is really my only option, because after school is crazy here. Homework, golf lessons, ice skating and running kids everywhere doesn’t allow much time for treadmilling. I made a chart to detail my exercise routine daily and my weight weekly, but other than adding to my exercise and cutting out the snacks I really don’t know what I should do different. I am active, drink water and eat mostly healthy food. And mostly, I just hope that by reading all of your entries I can continue to be inspired after next week when I go back to work. So I raise one more glass of water to all of you out there to continued inspiration.

Welcome! Just curious, have you seen a doctor to check your thyroid and other physical factors to make sure it isn’t something else contributing to the weight?
Otherwise, I am so happy to hear about your level of commitment to your health. I know we are all here for you!

Welcome! One way that works for me in maintaining a routine once your daily routine gets back to normal is to incorporate each goal one at a time. Start with the rising earlier to treadmill. Get used to the earlier rise for a week and then incorporate another goal into your routine. Pretty soon, it’s all second nature and you won’t even have to think twice about it! Good luck! You’ve gotten a great start!

Good point, R2K! If not, it probably is metabolism related. You didn’t say how old you were, but if you had a child ten years ago, I would put you somewhere in your 30’s, so metabolism sludge would make sense if it isn’t thyroid related.
You will do well though because it sounds like you are committed to walking and water. It also helps to have support at home and we will help, too.

Good luck Clara. Having your husband want to lose weight helps. Doing it together is better support then just on-line. I think that this is a great site. Everyone seems to want to help others. Again best of luck to you. 22 lbs ain’t nothing 2 lbs a week….I’d say it’s cake, but lets make it carrots.

Your 22 lbs is as important as someone else’s 82 lbs… it’s all weight and it’s all hard to lose! You can do it though! Glad you are here to join us!

Hi Clara,

Nice to meet you.
Having your husband losing weight with you is great! My other half, Leigh is thin already so he can’t really join in with my efforts….and he eats junk and doesn’t put on an ounce! How annoying is that?
Good luck in reaching your goal!
Take Care

Clara, I’m so happy to have you here! I can’t even add anything at this point, unless you haven’t thrown those donuts in the trash yet!
