About Small Exercise Changes
Take the stairs every single time they’re an option. No more elevators or escalators.
[Every single time]
Make exercise a priority, not an inconvenience.
Park far from your destination, so you’re forced to walk — this works at the supermarket, the mall, wherever. (This also helps you waste less time looking for a parking space!)
View tiring chores (shoveling snow, cleaning the house, weeding the garden, taking the garbage out, grocery shopping) as a chance to get in some activity.
Take the grocery cart back to the store when you’re done loading your bags into your car.
If you take public transportation, get off one stop early.
Work out with a buddy.

Also: you can make the stairs in your house an exersize by running them or doing them by 2’s!

Great suggestions–all of them!

These are great ideas Jane! I know not everyone thinks of all the little ways to increase your activity levels! One thing I do, is if I am doing housework or laundry, I walk back and forth many more times than I would need to. I take two or three items of clothes, rather than an entire pile. I will take windex and paper towels, only to come back for the ajax and sponge..etc.

So true!
Thats a good thing right?
I love all your tips but I don’t drive so I have to walk anyway.
Also like Jade’s tip of not taking the whole pile of laundry so you have to make more trips to and fro…. definately going to be doing that from now on!

One of my favorite inventions is my I-pod. I put it on and walk around my apartment. I don’t feel safe in my stairwell, not that it’s a bad area but just safety precautions. I like walking, just have to get my act together and do it. Putting on the i-pod and walking around my apt, it’s not a lot but it’s something. I clean I move. :winking:

i work at a desk all day, and instead of burning no calories all day i sit on an exercise ball instead of a chair, its good for posture and you will burn nearly 400 more calories a day just by sitting there! plus you can have fun bouncing around the office too
