A lack of memory

Sorry…I read some posts and commented on them but I don’t remember who’s they were.

1. Someone (I think Thumper) said you should weigh yourself everyday. I don’t necessarily agree with that. I know if I weigh myself everyday, I would start to get obsessed. I think it has to do with your personality. That said, I weighed myself yesterday, the first day and again today and it was a 2lb difference. This is why I don’t agree with the everyday. I don’t think I lost 2 lbs in one day. Good for me if I did but I am going to stick to Tuesday mornings (and Wednesday afternoons, when WW at work starts) but I am going to go by my scale. It’s the one I started with so I will use that weight. if their is a big difference between the two, I will figure it out then.

2. Someone (I so don’t remember who, sorry) was talking about Dance Dance Revolution. Usually a video game for Playstation or Xbox. For those who hate video games (me) there is a game called Twister Dance which is like DDR but for a DVD player. It’s hard, for the dance challenged but it’s great excercise.

So. For dinner last night I made lobster ravioli. I ate half of it!!! Go Me. Now I am taking the rest to my sisters tonight when I babysit my neice.

I know everyone knows not to go shopping hungry. But has anyone heard not to eat hungry. I remember reading that if you are “starving” you shouldn’t eat your meal. Have your salad first, or a small appitizer or something. And then wait 20 minutes for the meal. It’s supposed to stave of overeating. I did that yesterday. I had my lettuce with oil and vinegar and then the ravioli. It seemed to work. Let me know if it works for anyone else or if anyone else has heard anything like that.

**float over Twister dance to link to the game on Amazon.

A friend of mine said that if you drink 1/2 cup of (natural) grape juice before a meal that you wouldn’t eat as much. Anyone ever heard of that?

I do weigh in every day. It keeps me motivated! :D

I am going to try the not eating when you are starving thing, it makes sense to me. I also agree that weighing yourself everyday is not a good idea.

Hey Rachel, there’s also a game (you can get it for PS2, a PC or XBOX) called Yourself Fitness. It’s like your very own personal trainer. Maya (that’s her name) will ask you questions about your health and fitness and then formulate a workout plan that’s specific to your needs. The game also provides nutrional advice. You get to choose what kind of workout you want (yoga, aerobics, step, what ever), the music, the setting and Maya keeps track of your progress. I bought it but haven’t used it yet… One of my Jan. 16th resolutions :)

I think I agree. I’ve been weighing myself every day and am finding myself frustrated because its been the same for three days in a row. I’ll just wait til next week.

Rachel, that was me about DDR. I had never heard about the Twister thing but since we had PS2 and my kids wanted the game anyway, I figured I could get some use out of it. And I asked for it for Christmas so that I have more control over when I get to use it. See we mom’s aren’t so dumb. PinkPen, that sounds cool. I am going to have to check into that.

I agree with the not eating when you are starving. In fact you should never let yourself be really hungry. That is why they say to eat 4-6 small meals per day or 3 avg size meals and 2 healthy snacks. It keeps your metabolism going at an even rate.

BTW, when are you bringing over the Lobster Ravioli for me? That is one of my favorite things. :)

I’ve heard of that, not eating if you’re hungry. It works for me! While I am cooking dinner, if I find my tummy growling at that point, I’ll munch on some veggies as I cook. By the time I sit down to actually eat dinner, I find myself not that hungry and don’t eat a whole lot.

Good point about that. Eating slowly–giving your brain time to process “full” is very helpful.

I don’t like weighing everyday, it’s depressing if there’s not progress.

I do know that if you drink a full glass of water before eating that it will fill your stomach so you won’t eat as much. This is something that I have done for the last year and I know it works.

Actually, what I said was that newer studies show that those who weigh daily have more success at keeping lost weight off… Over time you learn to track your weight fluctuations, learn what’s normal for you, when you tend to gain water weight, and can stop a body gain before it happens.

It’s just talking about the newer studies and what they’re finding out about weighing in. I wasn’t pointing a finger and telling people they have to weigh every day.

Grape juice . . . that’s really interesting, I wonder if that’s true!

And I’m going to look up that Yourself Fitness program!
