- Eat breakfast. Hungry or not, it is the most important meal of the day. (Note to self: coffee alone does not qualify.) Today breakfast consisted of a can of tuna, a scoop of peanut butter and a giant glass of water.
- Drink lots of water. I’ve already started with two glasses this morning and have made plans for several dates around the water cooler for today.
- Exercise. Today is major house cleaning day. I wish I had one of those step counter things to keep track of how many miles I will walk through the house, on purpose, in order to achieve some exercise goal.
- Have hubby remove dead Christmas tree from the house (today) so that I can pull the treadmill back out of it’s holiday hiding place. I MUST rid myself of the holiday pounds hiding in my hips!
- Stop sitting here blogging and get busy! This is not helping my activity level.
- Remember that Anna Nicole Smith did NOT loose weight in a healthy manner……
Anybody have a cure for the “holiday blues”?

11:31 am
Ditto that Anna Nicole comment. No cure for the holiday blues but I bet a little exercise would get those endorphins moving!
12:09 pm
Dance while you clean, that should help w. calories and mood…
12:41 pm
I like Nancy’s idea of dancing while you clean. I have to try that.
12:44 pm
I suppose exercise endorphins will do that. I struggle with the grey days of winter myself. Exercise makes energy
12:52 pm
I’m twisted enough to enjoy cleaning house. I can work up a good sweat while vacuuming if I try! And moving furniture can be “weight lifting”!
1:05 pm
I love the idea of dancing while I clean, and you’re all right. A little exercise gets those endorphins a-going!
You know, I thought of (and began implementing) another idea for exercise while doing chores!
I set the laundry basket on the floor, and rather than bending to pull out clothes to fold, I’ve been squatting! Oh my thighs were screaming at me after one load, so I decided to switch off, every other load!
1:38 pm
Wow,some great suggustions….a good cup of tea, petting the cat, looking at pictures all help with the blues…just stay away from the cookies. Dancing sounds ideal! Put on your favorite music and boggie around the house.
7:18 pm
I love your list! I’m not a breakfast eater so I have to force myself to eat something…it’s usually a breakfast shake or fruit. And the Anna Nicole thing…yeah, she didn’t lose her weight in a healthy way and I still don’t beleive Kirstie Alley did either! (I swear that woman had to have surgery!!)
And I do beleive I exercise while cleaning, I climb the stairs so many times in my house it should count for something!! LOL
Good Luck in your weight loss, I look forward to going through this journey with you!
7:24 pm
You know YellowRose, I wish I had stairs in my house for the exercise purposes! Good for you! I agree, Kirstie Alley couldn’t have lost her weight in a healthy manner either.
I, too, look forward to going through this journey with you too!
7:53 pm
WalMart has Sportline pedometers for less than $8–same ones that were $30-40 just a few years ago! Definitely worth it.
9:13 pm
Dancing while cleaning…works.. Crank up the radio, put on your i-pod, walkman, cd-player, mp3 whatever…MOVE Vaccuuming , which I hate, so easy with the music, and dusting to…move the pictures out of the way, it’s twisting and turning, waist excercise. Clean the shelves, take the dishes done, bending and stretching.
All to music. You got a great workout. And a clean house.
9:43 pm
I hope I didn’t give you the idea for the scoop of damn peanut butter! :duh: Sorry if I did. Hang in there it will be okay! You are making great choices so far.
6:59 pm
$8 Thumper?! Guess who’s goin’ on a Wal-Mart run tomorrow!!!!
9:31 am
Great ideas! Breakfast can be anything-I often skip it, and now I know that’s not good to do. I’ll do the same with my laundry today, and dance while cleaning.
