I love salad. I am going to start of with that. I love salad. There is nothing bad about it. You can put anything you want in it. Lettuce, peppers, cheese, nuts, shrimp, pasta, crab meat. Anything at all. A little dressing and it’s a great easy meal. Again I love salad.
I don’t love that after I eat salad, I crave, no let me rephrase that CRAVE chocolate. Doesn’t matter what kind of salad, If I make it or if it’s from a restaurant, within 20 minutes, I NEED CHOCOLATE So today, after my very yummy salad, I needed chocolate. A friend of mine gave me a WW bar. It did the trick but wasn’t satisfying. It helped the urge, it got the taste in my mouth, but man did I want a snickers bar. I am a big believer of, If you want it, eat it. If you want and say, no no it’s not healthy, you will only binge later. But I resisted No snickers for me. 2 reasons, I was to lazy to get up to get one and when I was finally not lazy, there weren’t any. Bonus.
So since the crave for chocolate is over, I don’t crave the snickers. I realized that it wasn’t the snickers per say, it was the taste of chocolate. I love realizing that stuff.

GO, RACHEL! :yahoo:
7:26 pm
Rachel, you rock. I will say this–after not giving in to chocolate cravings for over a week, I don’t really want it anymore. GASP, you say. No, really. It’s true

My view of chocolate is the same, if you want it, have some. Try my trick. Invest in a GOOOOOD quality chocolate bar, something that’s over 60% cocoa and maybe even organic. They come in perfect one inch squares that is satisfying enough to eat one. Let it melt slowly in your mouth and savor that high quality goodness. The so-called junky chocolate makes me want to binge on it. It’s way too sweet and I think it’s the sugar my body’s reacting to rather than the actual cocoa bean. High quality chocolate bars have less sugar in them and you get more real chocolate and you are satisfied with less. Try it just once and see if you like it. I’ve bought my bars from Trader Joe’s near the checkout stands and at the local Natural Foods store. You can spend over $2 for a bar, so when you spend that much on a bar, you will appreciate it more too.

Amy, what a great idea! I will definitely have to give that a try!!!
9:09 pm
Dove dark chocolates…one or two always do the trick when I HAVE to have chocolate. I’m not even a huge dark chocolate fan, but where I would want an entire bar of milk chocolate, just a tiny bit of dark stops the craving (well, unless that craving is for chocolate cake, then all bets are off…)
10:00 pm
Hershey kisses for me, just one or two and I am happy. :winking:
11:17 pm
Mmmmm chocolate.
And good for you.
12:22 am
I crave chocolate everyday!! I don’t eat it everyday, but I do crave it. I may have to take a trip to Trader Joes.
4:33 am
Trader Joes, never thought of that…good idea…I will go today.
4:54 am
Congrats on not having the snickers!
I agree with Amy about the over 60% cocoa chocolate - its yummy and you only need a little bit at a time.

Congrats. That is a good idea about the chocolate bar. I eat Skinny Cow fudge bars when I have a craving. They are big and take forever to eat and are only 110 calories. The sandwiches are good too, but messy.
