Peanut Gallery

Well, I made one pleasant discovery this morning–the glass that I’ve been using for my water (can you tell hubby is a computer tech?) actually holds 16 oz. of water, so I’ve been gettting twice what I thought I was. Bonus! By the way, it’s insulated and I put about 2″ of water in it at night and put it in the freezer. It’s like having a permanent ice cube the next day. :)

Another not-so-wonderful discovery–peanuts have waaaaay more calories than I thought they had! We bought a huge bag of Planters unshelled peanuts, thinking they’d be a much healthier snack than a lot of things. And they are, but they’re also a lot more calorie-rich than I imagined. No cholesterol, no salt, but a 1/2 cup still = about 175 calories. And there aren’t many peanuts in a half cup. So, we’ll have to be very careful of that. Live and learn! ;)

As a post script to this, I just watched Oprah who was featuring anti-aging/healthiest foods on her show today and nuts–any nuts–was one of them.  As a guideline, the doctor on the show said that whatever you can reach into a bowl and grab with one hand is your maximum serving for the day. ::gulp:::scare:

8 Week Body Challenge

I just clicked on one of those google ads in the sidebar and wound up here:

Are you drinking your water?

1st WW meeting…

was actually OK!

My leader is called Helen and she seems very motivated, she herself has lost over 4 stone on WW, so she does know what she is talking about.  I have met her before – she was the leader of the meeting that I went to first time around! She said she kind of recognised my face, that was a few years (and stones) ago now!

Weighed in at 15 stone 2 lbs (212lbs) so 86 POUNDS 2 GO.

Bit more than I thought using the other scales, but when you are this kind of size 2 or 3 pounds doesn’t seem like a big deal.  I think I will feel differently about this before my 1st official WW weigh in next week!

Well, the Weightwatchers program seems a little different – Its now called Switch and I can choose between “No count” and “Full count” – I have chosen “Full count” for my 1st week as I think part of my problem is that I don’t always realise when I am full – which is quite a bit part of the “No count” plan…..

So, here goes 1st steps on the weightwatchers road to city slim!

Tuesday

After being such a grump on Sunday.  I actually did quite well.  The eating was ok and when I wanted to go to bed, I stretched.  That felt really good.

Yesterday, my eating sucked.  But, in my defense, I started my period.  I think it’s the unwritten rule of the Universe that you get to eat what you want on the first day of your period. Especially, when Freddie  Kruger is ripping out your ovaries.  It must be true because today I was down a pound.  YEAH!!

My mood is improved and the xmas decorations are down and put away, my purse is cleaned out and I am trying to get control over my life.  The pumpkin is still moldy and gross on the front planter.  At this point, I may just let disintergrate into mush for the planter soil  ;)

Day 1

Well, that was Day 1. I ate on plan all day, and MAN there are a lot of dishes to do when you’re not just eating pre-prepared foods. Yikes!

I got a comment earlier from Running2Ks, (thanks!) so I’m guessing there’s some way to do that. I’ll have to figure that out next.

Off to bed!
