How is it possible for me to weigh at night and then weigh the next morning and weigh 4 POUNDS LESS? I weighed 3 times this morning and that’s what it said! It is not possible. I will weigh tonight just to see if I somehow manage to put on 4 pounds during the day. Otherwise, I’m throwing my DAMN SCALE OUT! Does anyone have one of those WW scales? If so, do you like it?

It is because at night, your body/cells releases all of the water that it has retained during the day and if you weigh after urinating then your scale will reflect that. It is normal to have even that much weight flucuation from morning to night.

They say to weigh yourself at the same time to get an accurate measure of loss. Your weight can really fluctuate that much in a day.

I echo what Clara said. I always weigh myself at the same time.

My weight can vary that much from night to morning, especially if I’ve been a good girl and had all my water.
A lot of it is fluid loss.

My weight often varies from night to morning (all that dinner digesting in there) but I try not to focus on that. I suggest (as others have) picking a time that you want to weigh in, and stick to that for comparison.
I weigh in on Friday mornings right after I get up (and pee) and before I take my shower or eat. Then compare it to the next Friday morning’s weight.

That’s why I weigh once a week–the thing can make me nuts!

I’m with R2K and Plain Jane. I weigh once a week, in the morning, after peeing, before showering with no clothes on! It’s amazing how much difference the weight is from one time of day to the next.

I agree w. the above too. But maybe you did lose some of it. You have been working hard and it does happen sometimes. Hoping it is 4 pounds, which would be so awesome…

I’ve learned never – ever ever to weigh myself at the end of a day. I have a routine in the morning of coffee, exercise, showering – drying off and THEN scaling. Then my system is basically empty and it’s an accurate reflection of actual body weight – nothing in the intestines or bladder, just body weight.
Hell, there have been times I’d have shaved my head to lose a pound on that damn scale. Some days I just hate that thing!

You can “gain” as much as 5 pounds during the day… I’m not sure where it goes at night, but it’s significant enough that in the military the only weights that “count” are done before 10 a.m. If a weight is taken after that, it doesn’t count as official because it’s going to be heavier than an early a.m. weight.
I’m pretty sure there’s a scientific explnantion that involves gravity, lunar tides, fat fairies, and math, but I’ll be damned if I can figure it out.
