Quick Tips

I just thought of a couple of small things I’ve been doing that have helped.  One is to use a smaller plate…an 8″ salad plate instead of the usual 10″ dinner plate.  It’s a psychological thing, I’m sure–you actually eat less, but feel just as satisfied.  The other thing…if you have trouble getting all your water in, try buying a special glass–a Dollar Store usually has a good variety of glass tumblers, and sometimes the acrylic or plastic ones are even better.  They come in all kinds of funky colors and patterns.  I’ve found that having a glass that’s fun/pretty/whatever that’s just for water sometimes makes it more palatable. :)  Your mileage may vary, of course, but these are a couple of quickies that I find helpful.

Thanks for the tips, NancyB. I have heard the smaller plate one. Does it really work? I have a special sport type cup for my water and now I have been using the Propel bottle because it is a really cool bottle to drink from and it makes it easy to drink fast. I can also put ice in it because the opening is wide enough for our icemaker ice.

I do find the smaller plate to be helpful, especially during these first weeks when portions are smaller than usual. :)

The smaller plate thing is a WW trick. It definately helps. When you see food on tv they are using smaller plates, it’s an old camera trick to make the portions look bigger. If you eat the Smart Ones or Lean Cusines, put them on a small plate, it really does help.

The water thing also. I am using a blue plastic cup to drink from. I drink faster and refill it more since it’s easier to put ice in and fill up. Definately good tips

I’ve heard about the plate thing before and that it really does work… Someone else once suggested that drawing a big X on the plate–dividing it into 4–and then using that for portions helps, too. Meat in one triangle, starch in one, and non-starchy veggies in the other two.

Not sure what to draw the big X with, tho… Somehow chocolate syrup seems counter productive…

Plate size is an excellent suggestion. Thank you!
