Man, er, Woman Cannot Live By Bread Alone

Well, it seems that I had a good day after all. :)   I ate entirely too much bread and figured I’d be way over my 1200 calories for the day, but was pleasantly surprised this evening when I did a tally for the day and found that I was still under 1300 calories.  Yay!  I still shouldn’t have had as much bread, but at least calorie-wise, it wasn’t so bad after all.

I also checked my measurements this evening and I’ve lost an inch off my waist!  Everything else is still the same, but I’ll take it.  Tomorrow will be the end of Week 1 for me (I’m counting since the first entry in SparkPeople log…) and I have to say that this is the longest I’ve stayed so motivated *ever*.  Once again, thanks to all of you.

Doing Okay

Everything is going well here.  I got my stitches on my elbow out today, which is good.  The doctor seemed a little concerned that my elbow was so sensitive to the touch.  She strongly encouraged me to stay on the anti-biotics and watch for infection.  I also have to keep steri-strips on it and keep it covered during bathing/showering for the next 5 days.  Yuck.

start

I should have written this last week, but everything is crazy busy. I am looking to lose around 50 lbs, to get back to a healthy weight. I started the South Beach diet Monday, as it is the only diet I have ever found that I really think I can stick to after the first few days. I am hoping that this site will also help me stick with things, by meeting others doing the same things and finding tips, etc. Also, I think it will help me to be kind of answerable to someone/some comunity, where I will feel guilty if I just drop off my diet as I have done in the past.
The first couple days have gone well. I am not feeling hungry or having cravings. I am vegetarian, so am having to modify the recipes to some extent, but so far that has been easy as I live in a very vegie friendly area and there are lots of soy products in the stores. I don’t actually own a scale, so I will be going mostly on the way my clothes fit, but I do want to try and jump on the scale at the gymn every week or so.
Good luck to all of us! And thanks for this great site!

Out From Hiding

I know, I haven’t posted in a while.  I intended to post last Friday but started PMSing and totally blew it.  So I haven’t stepped on the scale.  I have been working hard to get back on track.  I have been doing my Walk Away the Pounds dvd with the stretchie.  I walk at least 3 miles a day, altogether or broken up.  If I’m in a pinch I just do the one mile in the morning and do two miles in the evening.  It’s a great workout.  Very simple, no hard steps to learn.  She can get annoying at times, but I just tune her out.  I have noticed that my jeans are getting really loose and my husband is even noticing too!   So if I’m not losing any weight, I know for sure that I’m losing inches.  The DVD set sells at Amazon for $44.99, but I picked it up at Walmart for $17.98.  I ordered my 8 minute workout along with WATP Walk and Jog and WATP Walk and Kick.  It should be arriving this week and I can’t wait to try them.  I like to add variety to my workout so I won’t get bored and give up.

Ten Top Tips

Another great article from SparkPeople site.  Great advice. :D

Water & weight loss

Why we need all that water article:

Drinking Water and Weight Loss

Checking in

I have exercised for the past 3 days.  And, while I know I could work out harder, at least I am working out.

Eating right also…

I ate a “Lean Cuisine Spa Meal” the other night (chicken pecan) and it was acutally quite good.  I was surprised.  I was full, but would have liked a little salad with it.  The thing is only 250 calories.

I have obssesed about my weight forever.  For the first time in a long time, I feel mentally commited to weight loss.  I find once I get my head on board, the rest is a lot easier.

Keep up the good work ladies.  You all are doing great.
