Lower than dirt

I’ve been on Weight Watchers for two weeks and you know what I’ve lost?

Answer:  About 14 days.

I could say I lost my sense of humor and my will to live but that would definitely be “over kill”.

Even Miss Chirpy couldn’t get a rise from me today.

After a careful week of being obcessive complusive about drinking my water, counting my points, portion control, and weighing every time I went to the bathroom I was rewarded on the scale by gaining two pounds.

When you gain weigh at Weight Watchers they don’t say anything to you.  They don’t even make eye contact with you.  No one says,  “Too many twinkies this week, huh?”

The weigh- in lady simpy records your weight and hands it to you.  I think I almost would have preferred putting a Big Pink Pig Sticker  on my forehead…..at least someone would have said, “Oh you poor baby, next week will be a better week for you!”

“I retain water, right before my period,” I say to no one listening.  Weigh-in lady looks up at me as if to say, “yeah, I’ve heard that one before.”  She smiles weakly hoping I will move on so she can weigh the person behind me.

Miss Chirpy clapped, honked her pink horn, gave out bookmarkers, and gave us words of great inspiration such as, “Don’t clown around, write it down!”   Also “nothing taste as good as thin feels!”  I think I would have felt better if she had just said, “Sucks to be you, doesn’t it?”

All I heard was, “Blah, blah, blah, blah, How could you have gained weight ? Blah, blah, blah blah…..Did you count your points?  Blah, blah, blah.

I’m sure that was  just old tape recordings of negative self speak going off in my head .

Maybe it didn’t happen exactly that way……but it did to my way of thinking.

Come on LD, you can do it. If you are getting your period, you must be synching up with the rest of us who are experiencing the same thing. I think that is why I gained last week. I am hoping for a loss this week!

That is EXACTLY how I felt that first week when I gained .2 pounds. The first week on the program. Fortunately, the next week it came off, but I fear that this week will be the same as the first. I don’t think I have lost much and I haven’t been able to exercise like I had been.

I really hate how they don’t say anything. Just a simple “stick with it and it’ll come off next time” would be so much better than the silence and avoided eye contact.

Hang in there! Don’t give up! And, keep sharing because a lot of us know how you feel totally!

I know how you feel. It sucks. But hang in there. It could be the group also. Is there another time you could go. I know one time when I changed times, I did better because the leader was better. And the woman who weighed in, did encourage you if you gained. She didn’t ignore you like the plague, she actually took a minute or so to talk and ask if everything was ok. (it depended on how long the line behind me was.

I had a wonderful leader when I joined WW, and I think that makes a huge difference. On the few occasions that I had no loss or had a small gain, she’d put an arm around your shoulder and give it a squeeze. She always wanted to know, in private, if there was any way she could help. She was great. The few weeks I had gains were *always* followed by a week with a substantial loss, so please, DON’T GIVE UP, and don’t be hard on yourself. If you stick with the program, the weight will come off. Everyone loses at different rates–everyone’s metabolism is different. I know how discouraging it feels, but look ahead to a new week and stay determined. :D We’re all cheering you on!

I can’t believe they didn’t say anything! Our WW weigh-in person had all sorts of theories and comforting words for me when I didn’t lose any weight week 2. I guess some weigh-in people are better than others..

It IS true that the scales will not be in your favor just before Aunt Flo comes to visit. Just know that next weigh in you’ll prob. be down by like 5lbs –because all your hard work will catch up to you.

If it helps to beat yourself up – go for it. A little bit of self-flagelation goes a long way for me (I had to call myself “fat mommy” for about 6 months before I finally got psyched up to start WW).. but if it doesn’t work that way for you, dump that disappointment. You CAN do it. Next time you’ll really show them!

I’m here to tell you that I just shed 3 lbs due to strictly being “Lady Day” weight gain – I retain water like a damned sponge. It usually hits me one week before my week and sticks around for a few days after.

Keep your chin up outta that dirt – and stick with your plan, you’ll get there, I know you will!

Oh hugs! So, it didn’t work out this week. And that really sucks. But….you can do it. You know you aren’t happy now, and you can make the changes. So–feel bad if you have to, but then come back out fighting, ok? :friends:

I hate that TOM (Time of the Month), whenever I see him I want to knock him FLAT!!!!

Have you measured? That can show progress when the scale isn’t budging.

You know what? Yesterday I was at my goal. Today, I got the big red monster and the scale said he brought 3 friends. THAT my friend, is just plain out and out BS, and it’s not accurate. So don’t let that weigh in discourage you, let it ENCOURAGE you – if you drink more water during your (.) you will shed the water you are retaining. Make it a habit to start increasing your water intake, and look back over the week to see what you can change to see a more impressive improvement next week.

You know you can do it – you did it for a week. It took longer than a week to put it on – and will take longer than a week to take it off, so just be patient – and be determined.
