Good habits vs. Bad Habits

So far the good ones seem to be offsetting the bad ones..

My bad habit: RATIONALIZATION. When counting calories, I often rationalize away Weight Watchers points like this:

–”That cookie was burnt so, it can’t have been worth all 3 points” (Does burning food reduce it’s caloric content? Maybe!)

–”I just had a bite of fries from the kids’ plate..so I don’t have to count those because they weren’t part of MY dinner.”

–”That tasted icky, so it couldn’t have been 4 points..”

Here’s my Good Habit: DDR

I follow the rule of thumb of: “Break a sweat almost every day”. Lately, I look like this:  :bananadance: I’ve been doing “Dance Dance Revolution” on PSP2. It’s embarassing to admit - but I’m thinking it’s giving me good results. Tomorrow is weigh-in at WW — and so I generally try and get on the scale at home on Thursday or Friday to give myself a “sneak peek” (my scale at home seems to be accurate w/ the WW one). If all goes well, I might have had a 4lb loss this week.  So, I’ll look fruity dancing at home to DDR - whatever! It’s working!

I have heard that’s a great game/thing for the playstation and have thought about getting it for my kid. Hmmm….I may have to get it more for myself now. I love to dance!

4lbs is great work! And dancing is fun, so it’s a great way to stick with the excercise.

I LOVE DDR! If I owned a playstation or anything I would get it but I never got into all that. Our women’s discipleship groups got together for a lock in and we did that for hours. It’s soo fun! :bananadance:

4 pounds would be amazing! DDR looks like so much fun! Great way to get the kids active, too. :good:

I also meant to say that I rationalize, too, but mine is usually much more destructive. For example, “I blew it at lunch, so why bother at supper time? I can always start over tomorrow.” That sort of thing…which is one step forward, two steps back. Anyway, I can relate. :D

I do the same thing! One tiny french fry - no big deal right? Riiighhttt. I put it in my calorie king diet diary though, and it maxed out my fat grams for the day.

Rut row. No more french fries.

4 pounds in a week though! That’s awesome!!!

p.s. you look funny. :slaphappy:

I seriously considered that PS2 game. Now that I have an endorsement from an adult, even better! :good:

You suck! If you have lost another 4 pounds and I have lost nothing, I am going to cry! Just kidding! I love you and you know it. I am just glad you are going to WW with me. See you in the morning.

I saw a news piece on TV last year about a kid who lost 75 pounds doing DDR. Amazing. I actually have one somewhere, but I’ve never used it…it’s in a box in the garage , and the kid has the Playstation in his room.

The spousal just told me that there is a school in West Virginia [he thinks] that has adopted DDR as one of their fitness programs!

I’ve seen others working that “game” and I can see why folks get in shape doing it!

FYI, there is a version of DDR available as a TV Plugin game. We don’t have PS2 so I wasn’t about to spend $200+ for the station just for the dance game thing, so I found it here: Shop4Tech
for a grand total of $22.99!
