ok news and… bad news.

I went to my weigh in on Tuesday morning and did plan to come back and tell you all the result but I forgot about a 4 year olds (Leigh’s God-daughter) party I had to go to in the early evening and had to go shopping for a gift for her. Now, I live in a small fishing town and there are not many shops to start with let along shops with gifts suitable for a 4 year old! But i managed to find something in Woolworths – a biggish shop that sells a bit of everything. I got her a hair braider/wrapper thing – the type of thing that wraps thread/breads into your hair.  its says it was suitable for 3+ although I am guessing that it with parent supervision! Also got her the board game that used to be called “guess who?” but seems to have been renamed to “whoisit?” Yes all one word.

Anyhow, weigh in – Stayed the same.  Bit disappointed but it beats a gain.  I don’t know whats going on with this cause WW always worked for me in the past and I am counting/weighing everything. Maybe I am not eating enough protein?  Or calcium? – I have heard that calcium plays a part in weight loss….

That was the OK news by the way.

On to the bad news….

OH has been sacked. They said in the letter that it as due to poor performance, but we pretty much know its because he said that he can’t do all the overtime that they are asking him to do because it effects out tax credits and basically we end up worse off.  Whats the point in him working more hours for us to be worse off?  So all the money issues are up in the air again – we have a large balance on our credit card from the last time this happened (£1,800) that is supposed to be cleared by the start of May because thats the end of the 0% deal that we are not going to be able to clear now.  That means that they will charge us 18% interest on the whole balance for the whole 6 months.  I haven’t worked out how much that is but I know its a lot of money.  We also got SKY tv installed recently on a special offer – we thought we could afford it cause he was employed now – we are locked into a 12 month contract at £15 a month.  I just can’t believe this is happening to us again, just as we are starting to get back on our feet – they knock us back down again. :bawling:

We don’t even know if we can afford for me to still go to WW.

From what i can see, me and Leigh need to do something to earn money from home – this is the 4th time it has happened to us – 1st I was sacked while pregnant with Teagan, accused of theft and failure to comply with company policy regarding cash handling – had to go through appeal process because I was not having them accuse me of something I did not do – got the theft section overturned and all the people who had handled the investigation into me in the first place lost their jobs and the shop where I worked was shut down because they were not training people correctly. 2nd time – Leigh made redundent with a weeks notice, lucky – had another job lined up anyway. 3rd time – Leigh termination of contract because he couldn’t be flexible enough for the company and come in at all hours of the day/night (the job was a 50 mile drive away.)  Now this, termination of contract because he can’t work all the overtime they want in a job he was not employed to do. (he was employed as a factory labourer – then their driver retired and they have made him do the driving ever since.  They wanted him to do overtime on the driving….)

Sorry for the long post…I just worry so much about all the money problems we are going to have now. :bawling:

 I-F. I can so identify. While the hubby (we’re engaged…and “boyfriend” sounds so highschool when you’re 50!) is securely employed, he’s had one raise in 7 years and yet, the cost of everything else has skyrocketed. I’m constantly on the search for a way to make another small income from home, but so far, have only done ebay with any success. And, of course, you have to have something to sell. So I can relate to your worry–we just go from paycheck to paycheck with nothing left over.

It makes it difficult to concentrate on weight loss or anything else, and I don’t have wee ones to consider like you do. My girls are grown up and on their own.

But hang in there. And if WW isn’t an option, I really urge you to check out the SparkPeople site. They have all sorts of resources. And we’re all here for you! I don’t know what I’d do without P2G to come to for support and encouragement. :D

Oh Ivory, so sorry to hear that. Money worries definitely trump all else. Esp with little ones at home. I can’t think straight for money worries on occasion, much less keep at the weight loss bit. If you can’t afford WW, we’re still here, and by now you know the programme, right? You know your points have the knowledge to follow along on your own. Just lean on us for the pep talks and bad advice. (ha!) Hang in there. Thinking of you and sending all the best “find a better job soon” vibes to your hubby.

I am so sorry. Nothing like the stress of losing a job or your spouse losing a job to really throw you for a loop.

I hope things workout for you all soon. Thinking about you.

:grouphug: You aren’t alone IF. There are a lot of people in your shoes. I am currently facing some money problems myself. I am reminded of a bible verse (I don’t know the number or anything) “this too, shall pass.” Everything that goes around, comes around or vice versa.
