Setback of the Monthly Kind

After a fantabulous week last week, my monthly “friend” has me glaring at the scale.  After walking 11.25 miles this week, I’m one pound heavier than I was last week (it had been 3) :zombie:

Bah humbug. I know there are benefits of exercise besides weight loss.  I know it’s not a week lost.  But there’s nothing worse than a cranky PMS-y woman who is working her butt off and can’t lose weight.  I think I saw the scale cringe today.

This weekend, I am going to a scrapbook retreat. Friday night, all day Saturday, and part of Sunday. Can’t wait to see how many pages I can get done.

I went to one of these in October, before I was dieting. Here are the snacks I took along:

  1. non-diet pop (several cans)
  2. a four pack of frappucinos (and I drank EVERY one! :( )
  3. gummy bears
  4. peach gummies
  5. chocolate covered peanuts
  6. pringles (at least they were the Light kind! LOL)
  7. grapes (hey, something healthy!)
  8. licorice

Oh my!! Can you say BINGE?!?!?! Now that I am watching what I eat, there is NO WAY I’d consume all that junk food in a weekend!

This time around, I am making smarter choices:

  1. 3 cans of diet pop (planning on one a day)
  2. peach tea Crystal Light
  3. a couple 100 calorie snack packs (oreos and cheezits)
  4. some oranges
  5. grapes
  6. several bottles of water
  7. sugarless gum

Breakfast, lunch, and dinner will be provided so obviously, the above is not all I will eat! ;)

Can I tell you?? … I am actually going to miss NOT walking on my treadmill tomorrow. I might try to take a walk around the building but it’s supposed to be VERY cold so I don’t know if I see that happening! The good thing is, I’ll only miss one day because I’m getting ready to walk when I get off here for today then I’ll be back early Sunday and will be able to walk that evening! Who’d a thunk that I would be regretting that I won’t be able to get my exercise in!!! LOL I am planning to take along my yoga/pilates mat… but I doubt I’ll end up doing it. But can’t hurt to have it, right?!?!?! I don’t remember seeing a TV the last time I was there but I think I might go ahead and throw in my new pilates tape I bought off ebay! It’s always good to be prepared, right?!

Weigh in this morning followed this calculation:

Add dinner with friends, including wine/cheese & pasta.

Plus Superbowl Sunday.

Plus 10pm pizza.

Plus Take Out Chinese.

Plus “Christmas” in February.

Minus wise choices.

Equals = 0.8lb gain.

I suppose given all of the above happening in one week, I should be relieved that it was only 1 lb.

What I’m not relieved about is that I should have been able to control my choices rather than just rolling with it and ignoring that little voice – you know the one.

What I’m not relieved about is that I also neglected to exercise – AT ALL – which may have given me a fighting chance to counter those bad choices.

What I’m not relieved about is that it will take me 2 weeks to get rid of that 1 lb.

Volleyball starts next week – here’s to getting fit and making better choices – no matter the circumstance.
