82/14

82 days to go and 14 P2G.

So far I’m doing ok. I got up, early, to work out before work. I had more energy on the days I did that. I say “did” because I didn’t do it today and I’m dying.

I also have been eating better, including remembering to pack lunch the night before so I have a salad and yogurt for lunch as well as snap peas and grapefruit for a snack. I’m cutting back on the “fun drinks” at night, including a glass of wine or a cup of decaf. Those are the hardest for me. I love the atmosphere the “fun” provides. It’s not the same with water, ya know? But I’m doing it anyway because I feel so much better when I do.

Also, last but not least, a few things keep coming to me as I work on this. First, I heard once to remind yourself that nothing taste as good as being fit feels. It’s so true. Y’all, on the days I eat like crap, I feel like crap. It’s yummy, sure, but then the next day I’m a bloated mess of sloth. I have no energy. I feel my brain doesn’t work. It’s foggy and I’m tired. On the days I eat right and work out I am sharp, quick, boundless. So, here’s to the saying and here’s to me saying it before grabbing the next coffee. “Nothing tastes as good as being fit feels.” Amen, ladies. Amen.

Unstuck…

Or so it seems!

I just posted yesterday that I was having a hard time finally reaching the 10 pound mark in my weight loss goal.  I’ve been stuck at 8-9 pounds for about a week now.  (I know, I know… I’m not supposed to weigh in so much but I cannot help it!!!)
Woke up this morning, weighed in and… there it was!  The number I’ve been waiting a week to see!!  I can now officially report that I am down ten pounds!!!  Only five more pounds till I get my new purse!

High, ho, High, ho…it’s back on plan I go!

OK, I took my week away and didn’t weigh in. And, I went back today, thinking I’d be about even. I gained a pound back. ARGH! But, I will say I had on a sweater and long pants and I usually have as little on as humanly possible coming from working out right before. Still, I know this pound is just a red flag for me to knuckle down.

I am probably going to try the 6 day plan Leanne and MommaK are doing just to try and get me past this plateau. If you are interested in starting this tomorrow or the next day,  pop me an email and we can team up to do it together. I will start tomorrow if I get my tired bones over to the grocery today to buy a few things I need for it.

Whatever the case, I WILL be weighing in next Thursday and seeing a loss. I WILL!

I didn’t fall off!

Well, I went to the Y and didn’t embarrass myself, that I know of. I did however, embarrass my almost 13 yr. old old daughter. I didn’t realize there was a fashion code for working out but she informed me my comfortable old sweats are not cool. I wore them anyway and was tempted to announce to the whole Y who’s mother I was and show her picture to all around but I restrained myself. I’m not buying “cool” clothes until I’m closer to my goal.

I felt better after working out and went back the next day and I even went the next day. thats 3 days in row. woo hoo That’s a first in 8 years. Now tomorrow I’m going to a seminar out of town and will be away from the Y for 2 days I was bummed about messing up already and I checked the hotel and guess what? They have a fitness center!!! Now I hope I’m at the hotel when its open, or I may have to break in to use the treadmill. Now that I’ve started I’m afraid to stop.

Elle, thank-you soo much for your comment. I laughed (with you not at you) for a very long time! I still get a chuckle just thinking about that. You made my week!! Well I’ll check in when I’m back.

Since my last check-in, I’ve lost 2.5 lbs. Over the course of the last week, I’ve gone up and down several times until my () finally went away, and then MommaK and I kicked off our 6-Day Mini Makeover program. She and I are both body type B, so the plan I use is suited for her as well. So, day 4 of the mini makeover and I’m down 6 pounds, because I gained 3.5 over the course of my (), and I was also doing really poorly on water intake for a few days. For some reason, water tastes like crap to me, acidic or something, during my (). Strange, but true.

Also, we have a new addition to the family, we’ve named him Bo. Short for Bowflex, we adopted him from the 2nd Wind equipment store and I’ve incorporated the Body For Life workout program into my mornings (I’m on day 9, 75 to go). Upper Body, Lower Body and Aerobics on the treadmill rotated daily for 6 days a week. The inches are just melting away, and I am just an inch or two away from my legs NOT rubbing together anymore. That, my friends, is a lofty goal for my body! Thunder Thighs are I!

Today, I’m wearing a size 12 jean. I haven’t worn a size 12 jean in, um, 5 or 6 years.

Lastnight I was looking over my BMI, and I’ve dropped down to “overweight/medium risk” now instead of “obese”. Phew! So I kept punching in numbers to see at what point I’d be “normal/low risk”. Now I’ve added a soft target to my program to give me more motivation, since that P2G number is in the teens! Once I reach my soft target, I’ll be so much more motivated to get to my final target.

I tell you what though, this is definitely a change of lifestyle. It’s not just a diet for me anymore – I think I know too much now! I’ve been getting angry that things that are so bad for our bodies are pushed on us like it’s health food. It’s just insane. “Only 100 calories”. Sure, empty calories full of preservatives and nothing that works with your metabolism. Bah. It’s a struggle every day for me to zip my lip, I know that it’s all about individual choice, but education is such an integral part in nutrition. Besides, some people can eat those things and not worry about it at all, it’s those of us who have to think about every single thing that fall into the false advertising trap of “healthy for you” food. Ah well, another battle for another day.

I also had my annual physical on Monday. Doc is all excited, my lungs sound GREAT he said! He was confused for a minute, I think he thought I smoked, and then he thought that I couldn’t be a smoker because my lungs sound GREAT, and then he had to ask if I smoked. I told him that I quit last August and he even more impressed with how my lungs sound!

Yayyy for good health!

You guys are all doing really good – I’m waiting for updates from Sue – Sue! Where are you?! Or am I behind? There are a few of you who I’ve been waiting to see how you’re doing – well? How are you doing?

Water, Water, Everywhere…

Good Grief! I’ve been reading about all the water that I’m supposed to drink (thank you to those metric converters out there!) and I’m stunned. All this time I’ve been thinking that I’ve been drinking copious amounts of water – surely the recommended amount – only to discover that I need to drink even more! Ack! I’m running to the bathroom as it is! o Well, I think I’ve discovered another goal for the week!

5 healthy habits

Ok I talked to my friend Leanne last night and she reminded me I haven’t been here. I hope by now she knows that I’m not good at keeping up on a regular basis. Thank goodness after almost 10 years of friendship she accepts this about me, yet also reminds me that I need to make more of an effort to do so. So thank you Leanne. I’m still at a 6.5 lb weight loss and that has taken me 7 weeks. UGGHHHH. Still have 13.5 to go. Slowly, Slowly said the Sloth. On the news the other night they shared 5 healthy habits of “naturally thin” (whatever that means) people so I thought I’d share them with you all. 1. Eat smart snacks i.e. low cal popcorn, pretzels (apparantly my fave choc chip cookies is out) 2. Eliminate cheese from your diet (They are joking right? Pizza, burgers, nachos…none of which sound good without cheese) 3. Fidget…If you aren’t a fidgeter be one. You can burn up to 800 cals/day if you are a fidgeter (who knew?) 4. Eat 1/2 portions, box the rest. 5. Walk (Park further away, take the stairs, etc) Eliminating 100 calories per day will drop 10 lbs in a year and at the rate I seem to be going it just might take me that long! So have a great day. I’m off to drink my first glass of water!
