In a slump

And it seems I’m not the only one. :(

I haven’t lost any weight in at least a week. In fact, somehow, I’ve managed to put on one or two pounds. UGH. I’m still watching what I eat, drinking more water than ever, and I haven’t missed a day of walking on the treadmill since the end of January. Plus, I’m still taking my yoga class once a week (getting ready to start a second class).

I know, I know… working out builds muscle and muscle weighs more… but dernit, I want to see the scale number go lower, not higher!! My husband is noticing the subtle changes and even a few friends have commented. So I know all of my effort isn’t wasted. But I still look in the mirror and see more of me than I want to!

Not to mention the fact that my ever elusive goal reward (a new purse) is still out of my reach.   I was supposed to be there by now!  :bawling:

Bummer! Good for you for being persistant. I know it’s hard. Sounds like it is already starting to pay off if your husband is starting to notice. My Mr. Wonderful will ask, “Are your earlobes thinner dear?”
Keep on keeping on….I’m impressed at your dedication and resolve. The scale will catch up with your efforts soon! You go girl….put up a picture of the purse you want and keep it where you can see it. Your my hero for persisting when it’s really hard. Go you!

Cathy - have you tried measuring inches instead of just pounds? Maybe for you the secret is to get a reward when you lose an inch, not 10 lbs. :)

You keep up the good work and the lbs will follow. Remember your re-contouring your body and if people are noticing you are doing something right. I too have not lost 1 more lb. in 2 weeks even with sticking with my exercise program.

I totally understand, girlie. But maybe it’s time to change the goal to a measurement instead of a scale number? I’ve started taking measurements instead of weighing myself. It’s helping since I’m toning and slimming but not losing a dang thing.

But.. I just saw that Jane said the same thing. That Jane is on the ball. :-)

Stay in there! You can do it!

Measurements, huh?!!? Ok… I’ll have to see if I can find a tape measure. Where should I be measuring?!

Thanks for the encouragement ladies!!

I’m sorry. I know you are frustrated and boy do I understand. I kind of feel stalled myself because of the scale change and all I’m still not at the weight I was on the other scale and so I just haven’t a clue what I’ve lost if any.

But this is about you not me. I just want you to know I understand that need for that scale to say a certain number. It will soon though, I know it will! Stick with it and it will reward you soon.

Keep the faith!! My husband loves to say “I told you so” after I whine about not losing weight for awhile–and then I go and drop a couple of pounds fast.

You’ll be sporting that new purse soon and making some of us purse hounds jealous ;)

Measure the areas where you feel you store the most fat, those are the areas that will show you how you’re doing. Standard measures are bicep (while your arm is resting at your side, at the largest point), waist (right at the crease when you bend to the side), an inch below your waist (saddlebag area), an inch above your :ahem: (full hip area), an inch below your :ahem: (full thigh area), each thigh at the widest point.

:)
