Almost there…

Still chugging along at this weight loss thing. This is the first time in my life I’ve actually dieted for more than a day or two and have seen results. A month or so ago, I decided that my short-term goal would be to get to 15 lbs lost. Then I would get to have the fun of rewarding myself with a new purse I’ve been eyeing.

It’s been a long time coming but I am finally almost there! The past two days, I have seen glimpses of the number I’ve been waiting to see. Usually, my scale wavers between two numbers. It will stay on one number for ten seconds or so, bounce to a new one (either lower or higher) and then back to the first number. I assume this means I’m between pounds. So anyways, like I said, the past two days, I sware I’ve seen my number come up for a second or two. So I cannot be far off! The goal is to step on the scale and see that number for much longer than a second or two. Then it’s off to go shopping!

After I reach my goal, I’ve only got about ten more pounds to go before I will feel like I’ve accomplished what I set out to do. I’m hoping to do it by the beginning of summer… or at the very latest my niece’s wedding in July! Can’t wait to go shopping for a cute summery dress!

Saying goodbye to another pound

I lost another lb ths week!! thats 3 total. i am so excited. I have gone to the gym 8 days in a row now. Its become a priority and i fit in when i can. Still watching what i eat and its getting easier to say no to the sweets and to not go back for seconds.

It feels good to be this person. I am starting to feel more like me again.

The results are in….

Blood results that is.

The tests show that my thyroid is underactive (Hypothyroidism.)

Very underactive apparently.

Normal would be 4, mine is coming back at 15. Not sure what these numbers mean exactly yet….i should have asked her to explain but I will find it easly enough on the internet I expect.

So GP has put me on Levothyroxine. 50 micrograms a day for a month then up the dose to 100micrograms a day after that. Then a check on the levels again. Which may result in more adjustments to the dose.

In a way its good news, at least I know why I am finding it difficult to lose weight. I don’t know much about this condition so I am going to do some research later and will post more infoon my blog when I know it.

I don’t know if I will continue going to weightwatchers. It seems like a lot of money to spend knowing that I may not lose weight that week through no fault of my own. I will obviously still try to lose weight on my own though! I am still going to do this.

One More…

… pound lost: 7 total; 3 more to go for the first goal; 19 more to go for ultimate goal.

Has anyone ever looked at the USDA’s new pyramid web site. It’s actually pretty good, as long as you can stand clicking away to the many links.

I did WW a few years ago and not only liked it, but it worked for me. This time around, I needed something a little different so I’m sorta combining WW with Fitday.com. I actually like this method a little better as I’m not only concerned with “points” but also monitoring my nutritional needs a little more closely. When I did WW, I knew I was supposed to do that, but I was obsessed with points, points, points – if my full amount came to 25 points of junk, it didn’t seem to matter; I still lost weight.

This time I’m doing a better job making sure the food I eat is good for my body. Oddly enough, the points always add up to within my range. I also feel like this is a way I can eat for the rest of my life – important in keeping the dang weight off!
