Taking Your Suggestions Please

I need a good low fat, low sugar, low calorie, high fiber cereal that doesn’t taste like cardboard.

I’m opening this up for suggestions. I can’t seem to find “The One.” I’ve tried Fiber One and frankly it tasted awful. I felt like I was eating cardboard. I like Special K especially with berries but it doesn’t have enough fiber. I just finished Kelloggs Smart Ones Healthy Heart and it tasted really great but was 230 calories a serving with 17 g of sugar. That’s just too much.

I don’t like Almonds and every time I find a cereal that the stats look good nutritionwise and I think, I’ll try a box of it, it has almonds in it.

So what do you all eat?

*I did a weightloss post over at my place yesterday, I was a little afraid to post, but have had a good response. Why is it so hard to share exactly how much weight you have to lose? Afterall no one is reading because they think I’m drop dead gorgeous or anything.

I eat grape nuts trail mix….it might have almonds in it though….What about regular grape nuts. I love it in yogurt.

Do you like Oatmeal? maybe not enough fiber in that. You could just take a Fiber pill and eat the cereal you like.

On the WW core list, I have been reading all sorts of suggestions for good high fiber/low sugar cereals.

- Shredded Wheat n Bran (the mini ones)
- Steel Cut/Irish Oatmeal (has a more chewy texture and is good mixed with SF syrup, splenda and or cinnamon)
- Weight Watchers Vanilla Puffs cereal. I actually have one with almonds in it right now that is wonderful–but I have heard this one is really good if you don’t like nuts.

Hope this helps! Off to read your site now!

I like Kashi GoLean cereal.
1 cup has 140 calories, 1g fat, 6g sugar, and 10g fiber(!!!).
It’s a little cardboardy, but I’ve grown to really REALLY like it. There is a GoLean Crunch one too, which is sweeter and has cinnamon, but as I recall, isn’t quite as good, nutritionally.

I love steel-cut oatmeal. You have to microwave it (or do it on the stove if you want). I add cinnamon, Splenda, and sometimes unsweetened applesauce. It is yummy.
