The Revenge of the Plateau
I haven’t had much to say lately, since I’m on almost a 3 month plateau
Between end of the school year (busy), my health (ew), and my meds (AHHHH), it all equals one big holding pattern. I wound up having a reaction to my latest headache med, so I’m having to slowly wean off of it (and withdrawal is a PITA)–but the silver lining is that I’m pretty sure it was causing me to gain weight/retain fluid, not to mention making me more tired than I already am.
But, to focus on the positives, I’ve lost a total of 46 pounds (23 pounds since January), and have walked 155 miles this year (compared to 140 miles for the entire year in 2005).
So I’m still here, and I have 139 P2G.
Questions?
Yesterday was my day 1 and I didn’t quite manage to be as good as I’d hoped. However I did manage to be a lot better with my eating and drinking than I had been so I’m calling it progress and trying to be pleased. So far, today is going great.
I had a couple of questions, first yesterday I used the calculation given here to work out my Basic Metabolic Rate which was 1722.75. I was thinking that if I aimed to keep my calories around that level that because that’s what I need at total rest I should lose weight with a little exercise. Anyone know if that theory is right? Or is it totally flawed? I have a feeling I’m missing something major here.
Also yesterday, I wrote that I am intending to recommitment for 12 weeks to change my body/life as it were. Now, that’s a long time to commit too but I was wondering whether anyone else wanted to do a kind of challenge?
Just a few weeks
In a few weeks, I should have met my goal. I had until June 21 to lose nearly 50 lbs, and as of today, I’m STILL holding at 23.5 lbs. lost.
Not too shabby. I’m not where I want to be, but I haven’t gained it all back. For that I’m grateful.
The changes I’ve made have become permanent little alterations in my life now. Black coffee, pop a bag of raspberry green tea into it for flavor and antioxidants. Protein & good carb combo for breakfast, add half a ruby red grapefruit if they’re in season (they haven’t been, and I am pout!). Lunch has been a quick bite, a protein, or a protein and little carb. Dinner is whatever I can come up with, but I do notice I am drawn more to proteins like fish and chicken or beef hot dogs (low sodium pure beef, I’m picky about that now). I don’t drink soda - but then again I haven’t had soda in so long I cant remember.
