P2G : Year Two Three Four!

Leanne’s Log

Total (+/-)

46.5 lbs. 31 lbs. 21 lbs. -15.5 lbs. (+7)

I haven’t done an official charted update since June 30, 2006 - so in 6 months, I gained 7 pounds. Most of that - I betchya - was from December 1-31. Dang holidays! Okay. So it’s January 1st, again. I think about how horrible I feel about myself, and then quickly remember 4 years ago - when I was 50 pounds heavier.

I still apply probably 80% of what I spent learning at the beginning of last year to my daily eating habits, so I know that I can get that last 30 pounds off, I just don’t know how long it’s going to take! Obviously the changes I made are more permanent than I thought - otherwise I would have gained it all back. That’s a positive change that I’m pretty happy about.

For now, I’m back to baby steps. I’ve created a shopping list based on foods my family enjoys from the WW Core food list, I have my water bottles ready and after yesterday - I’m fully saturated and ready to go! My mother-in-law even bought me a pilates mat and video, which is great and I’m looking at doing the 8 minute abs again every day at the very minimum.

You go, Leanne! I’m right back on the wagon with you. I’ve gained back every single ounce I lost over last year, and then added a few pounds. I’m taking a med right now that tends to exascerbate weight gain, so it’s double the struggle. However, I did start a written journal this morning…actually splurged on a leather-bound journal because it’s so darned nice to write in. :) Christmas is always a killer, calorie-wise, but I can’t even blame that, really.

I haven’t been drinking my water at all, except for the few glasses I get here and there from sheer thirst. So, that was first on the list! Secondly is to reduce our portion sizes. We eat healthily, but sometimes in ridiculous amounts. So, that’s the second thing for now. With winter settling in, it’s hard to say just how much walking I’ll get in, but I’ve lots of other exercises I can do *inside*, so no excuses there.

Realistically, I’d like to shed 50 pounds in 2007. How quickly I do it really doesn’t matter as long as the loss is steady. I’m sick of the yo-yo thing, and sick of my lack of resolve.

I must say that I’m not even feeling that positive about the whole thing today — maybe it’s the too-tight waist band on my jeans! But I know I MUST do it…and there’s no time like the present. So…here I go again.

Yay! I’m so glad to see you back, Nancy! I think last year I was expecting instant gratification, instant results. I know I’m not the only one, now, with more realistic expectations.

What is it about January 1st that makes us want to start over again - every year?

Here’s to results - slow and steady!
