HAPPY NEW YEAR, ALL!

Well, here I go again. I’ve gained back every single ounce I lost over last year, and then added a few pounds. I’m taking a med right now that tends to exacerbate weight gain, so it’s double the struggle. However, I did start a written journal this morning…actually splurged on a leather-bound journal because it’s so darned nice to write in. :) Christmas is always a killer, calorie-wise, but I can’t even blame that, really.

I haven’t been drinking my water at all, except for the few glasses I get here and there from sheer thirst. So, that was first on the list! Secondly is to reduce our portion sizes. We eat healthily, but sometimes in ridiculous amounts. So, that’s the second thing for now. With winter settling in, it’s hard to say just how much walking I’ll get in, but I’ve lots of other exercises I can do *inside*, so no excuses there.

ROUND AND ROUND WE GO…

…in circles. And here I am…AGAIN…right back where I started. Well, pretty much. I think I’ve managed to keep two of the originally lost pounds off. Pathetic. :duh:

Oh well, at least I’ve never quit trying, if there’s any consolation in that. I weighed in yesterday at my doctor’s and was exactly the same as I was six weeks ago. Grr! He’s been weighing himself when I do, and of course, he was down 4 pounds. So he suggested a wager to see who would lose the most weight between now and my December appointment. We’re both very competitive, and obviously, the amount of the wager isn’t much incentive, but I’m determined not to let him win! So, we shall see if that helps the motivation.

I did great last night, having some raw veggies and a bit of salad dressing in place of something less healthy. And I got all my water in yesterday, something I’ve been struggling with.

Overdue Update

Hello all — just thought I’d poke my head in with an update after being encouraged by Leanne’s post. :)

I lost *9* pounds in the week I spent in New Brunswick for my grandson’s arrival!  It’s a very large, regional hospital and we walked miles, literally, from the parking lot to hospital every day.  That, combined with light eating and lots of sleep, made the difference.  I’ve kept 7 of it off — I expected to put a couple back on once I started eating regular meals again — and I want to hold it there.  I’m working hard at keeping the momentum going.

My grandson is beautiful. :)  My older daughter and I are hoping to make the trip to see him again this coming weekend.  I’m sure he’s changed a lot in just two weeks.  Here’s a picture for those of you who might not have seen my news on my blog.  His name is Nolan Robert and he weighed in at 8lbs 3 oz.  I’m in love!

another 10 days

Man, where do the days go?  It’s been another 10 days since I posted a progress report.  I’m not doing quite as well…a lot more slips than the previous 10 days.  What’s wrong with me?  :duh:  The very thing I need to work on the most is the thing that always eludes me — changing the bad habits.  Sigh!

However, I’m down another 2 pounds, and I’ll take what I can get.  Today is my daughter’s due date, and the stress and excitement around The Big Event hasn’t helped any.  Anyway, onward I go!

So, P2G:  35 [-5]

Weighing Yourself Properly

This is how to weigh yourself for the most accurate results. I can’t believe I was doing it wrong all these years!!

Time Flies…

I can’t believe it’s been *10 days* since I last posted!  However, I’m happy to report that I’ve lost 3lbs since then.  It’s not huge, but it’s a start in the right direction again.  We’ve had a lot of meals on the run in the past week, but things have settled down for the time being, and I hope our mealtimes will also.

So, P2G:  37 [-3]
